Four Fine-Dine Tips by Hotel Raj Villas

Have you ever been into an awkward situation when you didn’t know what should be the right way to hold fork and knife?

Below is a list of 5 fine-dine tips by Hotel Raj Villas, best hotel in Guna Madhya Pradesh, which will help you avoid discomfort during formal and informal dinners.

  • The Knife & Fork Affair: Generally, a table is set for the right handed people. On a properly set table, forks are placed on the left side and spoons and knives are set on the right side of the plate which means you should hold them according to their positions. Always use the cutlery which is placed far away from the plate first and then move from outside to inside. Do not pick up any cutlery that you drop on the floor. Ask the waiter to replace it with a fresh one.

  • Lap & Dab: Remember, cloth napkins provided at the side of your table are only and only meant for keeping them on your lap while eating and then dabbing your mouth after you finish eating. Do no to tuck the napkin on your shirt collar or drape over chest. When you have to leave the table for any emergency, place your napkin on the chair to signal that you will join back soon. After having finished eating, keep the unfolded napkin on the table. (Avoid folding it back).

  • Seating Arrangement: Usually into a business dining, the seating arrangement is pre-decided by the placards so you do not get a chance to choose your seat. But when there is no pre-decided sequence, you should wait until the hostess helps you out with it. After being seated make sure you do not cross or shake your legs which seems embarrassing and out of etiquettes. Do not keep your elbows on the table.

  • Follow The Crowd: Ensure that you wait until all the food items are being served on every plate. You should not start eating until the waiter has finished serving everyone. If you have eaten something which you cannot swallow or you find some stone or not-to-be-eaten thing in your bite, excuse yourself and go to washroom to remove it. Do not spit out anything in front of everyone.

Follow these simple dining tips and escape from being the centre of attention in a wrong way.
